Accurate Boss
Extreme Reels
Our Boss Extreme TwinDrag reels offer
fishermen the
ultimate in versatility. Light tackle anglers will love their
effortless, precision casting capabilities with exclusive
AccuCast, and once hooked up, the ease in which they can control
the fight with a responsive lever drag. Medium to heavy tackle
anglers, on the other hand, can crank down hard on the TwinDrag
to battle the largest game fish with heavy, braided lines. The
exclusive TwinDrag system also supplies ultra-smooth drag
operation, which results in fewer broken lines and less pulled
hooks. With fourteen Boss Magnum models to choose from, we have
the perfect size reel to handle small, medium and larger size
game fish from calico bass, halibut, redfish, bluefish,
barracuda and king mackerel to big striped bass, sturgeon,
yellowtail, dorado, amberjack, wahoo, tuna and billfish.
Accurate 2 Speed Boss Extreme
BX2 Reels

“Accurate’s New BX2 line of two
speeds offers anglers Small Reels for Big Fish”
The new “BX2” Boss Extreme 2
speeds is a dream come true for fishermen who don’t want to
spend the time fighting their tackle versus the fish. Since the
introduction of Spectra line, reel manufacturers are
continuously looking for ways to put the power and torque
available in larger reels in to a smaller frame. Accurate has
made its first real stride with the B2-30 and B2-50 which were
well accepted this season by many of the long range crew for the
sardine bite and were credited with numerous cows (fish over 200
pounds).
In the beginning of 2008 David
and Douglas Nilsen designed the first of the BX2 reels for our
many fishing trips during the year. These reels landed fish in
New Zealand, Australia, Panama, Mexico, and other fishing
grounds throughout the world. The BX2 has held up to the rigors
of stand up fishing to a variety of species without problem. Our
dream of a small reel for big fish has finally gotten one step
closer to reality. These reels offer features that reels twice
their size have to effectively stop fired up game fish in their
tracks.
The “BX2” Boss Extreme 2 speeds
are being introduced in 400 (40lb), 500 (50lb), and 600 (60lb)
sizes to fit the needs of serious anglers.
Bx2 feature:
•Calibrated Lever Drag for Accurate Drag Setting
•New Two speed Mechanism for Instant, Solid engagement
•New power handle for increased Comfort and Torque
•17-4 Heat Treated Stainless Steel gears and gear shaft
•Larger, Stronger Gear Shaft for increased Torque
•Larger Anti Reverse Bearing for Solid Stopping Power
The realization for anglers that
there are smaller reels hitting the market that will handle the
abuse of big game fishing has been long overdue. With the
Patented TwinDrag feature and the new added features to the BX2
reels, we have gotten as close to a “Dream come true” as you can
get. Our goal is to sell people product that creates good
feelings and memories that last forever. If we can offer a small
comfortable reel that gives people the confidence and power to
land their targeted game fish we have done the job we set out to
do. We are in this for the long haul and will continue to
innovate new products as we see the needs of today’s fishermen
continuously change with the introduction of new techniques for
a variety game fish species. At Accurate we want to build the
products that exceed the standards set by existing tackle and
shoot for the next level not yet achieved. With this type of
commitment towards the future, we hope to be creating products
for years to come that will land the next fisherman’s fish of a
lifetime.
Accurate Platinum Two Speed
Models:

In 1997, Accurate Fishing
Products introduced its first, revolutionary, dual-drag system
fishing reels. Now a little over eight years later, Accurate has
expanded its high-tech reel series to include seven blue-water
models and eight light-tackle models, all of which have been
readily accepted by serious saltwater sport fishermen.
As you read on, we'll tell you
more about Accurate, how Accurate reels are designed and why
Accurate's patent-pending TwinDrag reels offer unparalleled
performance under the most challenging angling conditions.

Before introduction of Accurate
patent-pending TwinDrag system, traditional fishing reel design
applied drag to only one side of the reel spool. As a parallel,
imagine trying to stop your car while braking was applied only
to the wheels on one side. Besides veering you into a skid, such
a one-sided system would produce a large imbalance on moving
parts, create erratic pressures and prematurely wear out brake
materials. Unfortunately, the dynamics are no different in
single-drag reels. Now imagine the increased efficiency of equal
pressure applied to both sides of the spool: the bearings and
spool shaft receive a more balanced load, translating into
stronger, smoother drags, while the dual-drag design also
doubles heat dissipation.
TwinDrag design also requires
less pressure to be applied to each side of the spool, while
allowing precise drag settings with extremely little drag
fluctuation
Here's a simple comparison: Take
a standard lever-operated, single-drag reel and a TwinDrag (ATD)
reel and set both to the same drag pressure, say, 20 pounds.
While both reels will apply the same 20 pounds of drag to a
running fish, the ATD reel will accomplish this by applying only
half the amount of side pressure to each side of the spool. The
single-drag reel, however, applies all of its drag tension to a
single side of the reel spool, promoting heat buildup and
uneven, jerky drag performance. And here's another Accurate
advantage: the precision-adjusted drag of our ADT reels will
fluctuate less than a single pound in total drag range when line
is pulled--at any speed--from the spool. Said another way, when
the drag is set to 20 pounds on a ATD reel, drag pressure will
only vary between 19.5 and 20.5 pounds, or less! Test that
precision uniformity against other reels and you'll see the
difference.
Accurate's Platinum TwinDrag
reels are also designed with a preset lever (the Boss ATDs have
a preset knob) which allows for a precise setting of the drag
range. Used in conjunction with the preset lever is a handy,
graduated, alphabetical "letter" scale which takes the guesswork
out of setting the drag by serving as a definitive, visual
reference guide during drag adjustment.
Accurate's ATD reels offer
excellent, unhindered freespooling in every drag-setting range
from less than 1-pound to total lock-down (more than 70 pounds
of drag pressure). They're always ready to fish, right out of
the box, with no additional "tuning" or "blueprinting"
necessary.
What all of this means to the
fisherman is that Accurate's Platinum TwinDrag and Boss TwinDrag
reels apply the smoothest, best balanced, most precisely set and
maintained drag pressure possible, while not falling victim to
heat buildup that can cost you fish.
Accurate's dual-drag reel design
hasn't been compromised for quality because of manufacturing
costs. It's been their philosophy in designing reels that "cost
follows product," not "product follows cost." They didn't decide
on "price points" and then find themselves forced to design
reels within the manufacturing constraints of that price class.
Rather, they looked at each integral component of their reels,
then designed each part to be of the lightest weight and most
"bullet-proof" strength possible.
Accurate also wanted to make our
reels smaller than others on the market, while increasing
strength, performance and retaining comparable line capacities.
Naturally, smaller reels are more comfortable to use. They
decreased size by making the spool arbor smaller in diameter --
allowing corresponding diameters of the sideplate and frame to
also condense. At the same time, they added strength to the
arbor by increasing the arbor's radius near the inner sides of
the spool.
Also contributing to a smaller
design is our use of smaller ball bearings for the spool;
smaller diameter bearings can be used because our twin-drag
system greatly lessens bearing "side load." Side load is the
worst influence that can be placed on a bearing. (Most other
lever-drag reels must use large ball bearings to withstand the
tremendous amount of side load exerted while creating drag
pressure on only a single side of the spool.)

To make our drag-friction
washers, we've selected titanium, because it is also very light,
super strong and does not shed any part of itself onto the drag
washer material (the friction washers create pressure on the
drag washers to, in turn, produce drag). By not shedding,
titanium keeps the drag washer material free from foreign
material contaminants which can cause rough, intermittent drag
application.
At-sea performance shows that our
drag washers last incredibly long. Laboratory testing is
important, but ultimately, there is no truer testing facility
than the deck of a boat. Their first production, demo reels have
been in rugged use for nearly 40 months now and we haven't
needed to change a single drag washer so far! And these are
reels seeing duty aboard multi-day, big-game fishing trips in
Mexican waters, where the reels have caught literally thousands
of game fish, including giant yellowfin tuna weighing up to more
than 300 pounds. These reels have also been "overboard" and
retrieved many times -- after huge tuna being battled stand-up
style made it necessary for a backup rod-and-reel rig to be
attached -- and the reels continue to perform flawlessly.

Accurate Platinum TwinDrag reels
contain seven Class-5, ABEC, stainless-steel ball bearings,
while Accurate Boss TwinDrag reels have six Class-5, ABEC,
stainless-steel ball bearings. Bearings are rated in classes,
with Class 5 being the highest. Class-5 Series Satellite
Bearings, for example, operate in orbiting satellites which are
not subject to repair.

Using a teflon-impregnation
process, each bearing is permanently lubricated in its ball
race. Bearings in Accurate Platinum TwinDrag reels are
positioned with five bearings in the spool and two bearings in
the reel handle. Since the dual-drag design lessens side load,
these bearings receive less side pressure, allowing them to run
smoother and longer.
