AHAB MegaDrag
Truly the best
spinning reel drag on the market. The new MegaDrag™ provides a
smooth pressure curve from initial tension all the way through
the end of the battle. Measuring nearly an inch and one-half in
diameter, it's up to twice the size of the drag washers found in
other spinning reels. This "bigger is better" philosophy
translates into a superior fishing instrument that is capable of
handling anything the coastal or offshore angler will ever
encounter.
Fin-Nor engineers
also used new cork materials in the new MegaDrag which creates a
smoother drag surface and allows the cork to more actively
"release" when tension is reduced.
Our patented
"no-tool" drag washer change system gives the experienced angler
the ability to decide exactly what type of control is needed and
to make that change with just a moment's notice.

Nor Santiago Reel
About Fin Nor:
Fin-Nor's beginnings go back to the glory days of big game
fishing, when angling greats such as Ernest Hemingway, Tommy
Gifford and Alfred Glassell, Jr. were expanding the sport's
horizons. The brand was born in a Miami machine shop owned by
Mr. Finley and Mr. Norwood, where they produced their first big
game reel in 1933. It weighed 35 pounds and was large enough to
fill a sizable water bucket. Capt. Tommy Gifford, collaborator
on the reel design, caught a 527-pound bluefin tuna at Cat Cay
on his reel, and Fin-Nor took off from there.
Fin-Nor's reputation for quality increased with the record catch
of Alfred Glassell, Jr.'s 1560-pound black marlin in Cabo
Blanco, Peru in 1953 while he was filming footage for the film
Old Man and the Sea. This remains the largest black marlin on
record with the International Game Fish Association.
Henry Breyer III,
Palm Beach
resident and heir to the Breyer's Ice Cream fortune was a
long-time owner of Fin-Nor prior to selling the Company in 1990.
With the help of superstar engineer Gar Wood Jr. Fin-Nor
expanded into fly tackle.
Wood designed the legendary Fin-Nor saltwater fly reels,
nicknamed the "wedding cake" reels, that were the first fly
reels to withstand the rigors of catching large saltwater fish
like tarpon.
To
this day, these reels are collectibles due to their simple,
elegant design that performs so well many are still in use
today. Wood also designed a revolutionary spinning reel in the
1950's that established the base for Fin-Nor's expansion into
spinning tackle
Now:
72
years and 204 IGFA records later, W.C. Bradley Corporation,
owner of other avid fishing brands such as Van Staal and Quantum
PT, added Fin-Nor to the family in 2005. We plan to update many
of the product lines, including some of the classics, utilizing
new technologies and designs while remaining true to the Fin-Nor
heritage of craftsmanship and durability. And, in keeping with
the high quality of Fin-Nor, we will offer unequaled product
support and customer service with better parts availability and
maintenance.
We are dedicated to continuing the Fin-Nor legend with only the
highest quality products and service. Since we want everything
done right, product lines will be updated one at a time over the
next few years.
