Tackle!
The experts at alltackle fishing teamed up
with the factory reps to select the best Kingfish gear available
on the market. The high speed reels, live bait trolling
rods, downriggers and lures are selected to give you the best
opportunity to boat that tournament winning smoker king.
We recommend trolling five lines with baits
for kingfish. Your longest line should be 200' back, the
next line should be flat-lined at 40', the next line should be
placed in the prop wash. The closest two lines should be on
downriggers (mandatory), one with a ribbonfish at 10'-20' off
the bottom and 20' below the surface to start and adjust depth
to match what your fishfinder is showing you in relation to
thermo clines, bait balls and hard returns.
Fish clear green water just before it gets
blue. You want to fish in the color change zone on the
clear side of the change. Try to fish over structure such
as wrecks, reefs, drop offs, etc. and use a zig-zag trolling
pattern so that you cover different water depths. Try to
fish near moving water, tidelines and current lines.

Kingfish
Reels:
Penn GS High Speed Reels

Penn Torque High Speed Reels
The Penn International Torque Reel
utilizes ISP design, resulting in high-speed gears and pinions
that are unaffected by force and load, thereby maintaining
perfect alignment with the pinion regardless of the pressures
exerted on the reel. The patented Integrated Side Plate design
of the Penn International Torque Reels allows for an oversized,
super high-speed gear for a unique combination of power and
speed.
Shimano Trinidad High Speed Reels
Shimano Trinidad Reels are high speed
reels designed for Bluewater fishing for Kingfish, sailfish, wahoo, Tarpon
and more. These are high quality precision reels. The Trinidad
Reel features a
6:1:1, (4:9:1 on the TN40 & TN50) retrieve ratio, a one piece aluminum
frame, 6 stainless steel ball bearings and an ergonomically correct
oversized handle.
Shimano Torium High Speed Reels
Shimano introduced another new reel
series in 2003, borrowing from lessons learned from the
development of their acclaimed Trinidad series of reels. The
Torium (non-levelwind) reels represent a durable, high-speed
reel that casts well and has been designed for years of comfort
and ease of use. The new reel incorporate many of the features
folks have been asking for - without the high price tag.

Daiwa Saltist High Speed Reels
The Daiwa Saltist features full metal
construction with virtually all components are metal for maximum
reliability. The sideplates are constructed of rigid aluminum alloy

main gears are machined from Daiwa's exclusive high strength
alloy stock. The Saltist is built to handle ultra-strong braided
lines in addition to traditional mono. Four ball bearings and a
roller bearing add efficiency to the drive train support, with
Daiwa’s special CRBB anti-corrosion ball bearings supporting the
