After years research and development Okuma unveils the new Catalina series star drag reels. Designed for the ultimate in performance and strength these reels are equipped with an anodized, T-6061, machined aluminum frame. This extremely rigid and durable frame eliminates frame flex, common on graphite framed reels and helps achieve a more precise alignment of the gears, bearings and shifts for ultimate freespeed and smoothness. The oversized gear box is common on all Catalina reels and has been positioned forward at a 45 degree angle, in order to keep the gear box out of the way while cranking. Hidden within the oversized gear box is the heart and soul of the Catalina series featuring an oversized stainless steel main and pinion gear, fitted with a massive oversized Rulidium and stainless disc drag system. With salt in mind, the Catalina uses three stainless steel ball bearings and a stainless main shaft. Available in both standard and high speed gear ratio models that range between 4.0:1 for cranking power and 6.3:1 for blazing retrieves, depending on your target species.

For Ultimate strength and durability Okuma engineers design all Catalina reels with a dual anti-reverse system. Equipped with both a traditional stainless steel ratcheting anti-reverse and a one-way roller bearing to eliminate all play in the handle, assures maximum performance when hooked into that once in a life trophy fish. Unique for a series of reels of this caliber, the Catalina series also features level wind versions, perfect for bottom fishing, salmon trolling, or any level wind application.
