Over 6 years in the development, the
Z-WING's state-of-art design creates significant downward force
which overcomes drag, allowing a constant depth to be maintained
over a wide range of trolling speeds. Barry Moore, President of
Nekton Corp., whose love of fishing and engineering talents,
developed the concept of the Z-WING. Barry's many years of
experience developing large towing vehicles for underwater
research taught him a few things about maintaining depth and
lateral location with minimal drag.
The Z-WING is a lightweight, 13" x 7"
piece of virtually indestructible
polypropylene plastic. No more heavy lead balls rolling around
the boat or swinging off the end of downrigger booms which can
cause damage to both angler and boat alike.

The Z-WING has three positions
With the center hole being the most
efficient. Attaching the Z-WING 250 by the center hole will
produce a 16 degree downward angle far outperforming a 5 lb. lead
ball. The Z-WING will hold this angle and lateral position at
speeds from under 1 knot to over 6 knots.
SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND DOWNRIGGING STATISTICS
|
Knowing the exact Depth and Lateral Location of a Subsurface
bait or lure is critical in making the presentation most
effective. Simple calculations of tow cord length, based on
varying angles of decent, take the guess work out of
downrigger fishing. Consult the chart below to understand the
relationship between the angle of decent and the length of tow
cord needed to attain the desired depth.

Based on the above
factors and the varying angles of decent, one can calculate
the exact amount of tow cord necessary to reach the desired
depth by performing the following exercise. Please be sure to
calculate the free board of your boat in to the equation.
Desired depth /
factor ( associated with angle of decent ) = Tow cord length
For example:
Desired depth = 75 feet and we have a 20 degree angle of
decent.
75 / .94 = 79.8 feet of tow cord
At a 30 degree angle of decent the formula would look like
this:
75 / .87 = 86.25 feet of tow cord
A steeper angle of decent allows for less tow cord to attain
the same desired depth. Since the Z-wing Downrigger will
maintain depth and lateral location over a range of speeds, no
adjustment in tow cord length is necessary to maintain desired
depth.

WARRANTY: The
Manufacturer warrants each Z-WING to be free from
defects in materials and workmanship for a period of
ninety (90) days from the date of original purchase. We
will replace any Z-WING that is found to have
imperfections in manufacturing if returned to our
factory with valid sales receipt or proof of purchase.
This warranty does not include damage caused by
accidents, misuse, or tampering with the Z-WING. |
| |
| CAUTION:
The Z-WING is a hydrodynamic depressor. Extreme care
should be taken when trolling at high speeds to avoid
damage to equipment. Increased speed will create
increased downward force. |
